A favourite walk from the doorstep is to Bowscale Tarn, immortalised by William Wordsworth. There is an excellent farm shop at Cocklakes and also nearby is a pub (the Mill Inn) in Mungrisdale.More extensive local amenities await at Hesket Newmarket, a welcoming village which boasts a fantastic village shop where you can stock up on food, and a traditional Cumbrian pub with a great choice of ales and pub grub, alternatively, the nearby village of Threlkeld has an even wider range of amenities to keep you busy and well fed throughout your stay.
