The Three Shires Inn offers hearty homemade fare and local ales. Walks of all standards abound and the famous Cathedral Cavern and Slaters Bridge are both within easy reach When you wish to head out and explore the rest of the Lakes, you can pass pretty Elterwater on your way to Skelwith Bridge and the A593, with the Britannia Inn, and various pubs and cafes. From here, head south to Coniston or north to Ambleside – a sophisticated, bustling town.
