In the summer, the gorgeous, golden-sand beaches of Portreath makes a delightful day out with your pups, ideal for a picnic lunch and ice cream, or you can head over to Porthtowan, a blue flag, dog-free beach where you can dine at the surf-themed Blue Bar or the Unicorn Pub, or get a taste of history at Carn Brea Castle, a unique historic building turned restaurant. Further afield, the popular town of Falmouth makes an educational day out, home to Henry VIII’s Pendennis Castle and another lovely beach, Gyllyngvase Beach, as well as a good selection of eateries. Enjoy walking from Sandyfeet down Roscroggan Valley, within the area named “Red River” due to staining from tin, creating a unique landscape shaped by mining, or visit the close by Tuckingmill valley Park. The local area was rich in mineral mining, and to find out more about this head over to Heartland’s world heritage site, grabbing a bite to eat at the Red River café along the way. For a more action-packed afternoon head over to Godvrey or Gwithian where you will find two surf schools. Sandyfeet is the ideal base for however you spend your days.
