More information

Sea Folly is a bright and inviting coastal annexe set just 3 minutes walk from the wide sands and drifting dunes of Newton Beach in Porthcawl, offering couples or solo travellers days shaped by sea breezes, shoreline wanders and the steady rhythm of the waves. As you follow the gravel driveway beside the main house, a feeling of ease settles in, as though the property is already encouraging slower starts and unhurried evenings. Step into the small entrance area, ideal for dropping bags and hanging coats after time spent outdoors, before finding the nearby walk‑in shower room where warm water restores you after beach walks and bracing coastal air. Continue into the softly styled studio‑style double bedroom, where subtle coastal colours mirror the scenery in the mural just beyond the door. A feature lantern positioned above the bed captures early‑morning light and night‑time stars, creating gentle moments of wonder at either end of the day. Under‑bed storage keeps belongings neatly tucked away, and the TV allows for relaxed mornings before setting off to explore. Drift into the main living area, a simple, well‑arranged space designed for easy routines. Settle into a seat with a warm drink, plan tomorrow’s route, or store local finds in the fridge after a visit to the shop. Open the door to the enclosed courtyard, a sheltered outdoor corner decorated with coastal artwork, potted plants and soft evening lighting. It’s an appealing spot for a quiet morning drink or a restful moment after walking the beach. As a warm gesture, guests are greeted with a small welcome gift. Just a short stroll from Sea Folly brings you to Newton Beach, the only beach in Porthcawl that remains dog‑friendly throughout the summer. Its wide sands and the second‑highest sand dunes in the UK create a dramatic landscape often chosen for major TV and film productions, with titles like Doctor Who and even Lawrence of Arabia making use of its cinematic sweep. Beside the shore, the Porthcawl Promenade and Porthcawl Marina offer long, view‑filled walks, while local stables provide the chance to experience horse riding along the beach and the surrounding coastline. The nearby village area brings everything within easy reach, including three cafés, three pubs, a bakery, and a newsagent, all adding ease and variety to your days. A short drive leads to the shimmering pools and wandering dunes of Kenfig National Nature Reserve. Nearby sits Cowbridge, known as “the destination market town”, where independent shops and eateries line historic streets. With sweeping sands, cultural highlights and scenic routes in every direction, this stretch of the Glamorgan coast offers endlessly rewarding days out. Rooted in the distinctive character of the Glamorgan coastline, Sea Folly provides a gentle base for exploring, unwinding and experiencing the natural drama of the Welsh shore.
