Once a great Cistercian monastery, Jervaulx Abbey sits five miles to the north of the town and has won the hearts of visitors over the years; though ruined and roofless, its an atmospheric spot well worth a visit. The beautiful remains of popular Fountains Abbey and its stunning water gardens can be found ten miles to the south of Masham. With over 800 acres of attractive grounds and ancient woodland, its very easy to find that perfect picnic spot.
