From Bowness Bay and onto Lake Windermere, there is plenty of choice for boat rides, boat hire and trips right up to Ambleside, all with beautiful views of the surrounding national park. A short walk away is the superb sister town of Windermere, popular with tourists for of its range of amenities, family-friendly jetty museum and the picturesque Orrest Head viewpoint, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, and you can embrace the breath-taking lake views and fells. For the more adventurous, there is the opportunity to get involved in a variety of water sports and mountain biking, as well as the popular Go Ape Tree Top Adventure Park and Brokehole Treetop Trek. Snowdrop Cottage is ideally situated to explore the area, whether by foot, bike or car, and is a short distance away from Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain.
