Susanna’s Apartment, on the first floor (arrow 3), is named after
Susanna Acton she was the wife of the eccentric founder of Acton Castle in Cornwall. A romantically minded, rheumatic seaweed enthusiast, he built the Grade II listed granite castle in 1772 as a wedding gift for his bride Susanna, with one of the apartments in the building now carrying her name. Stunning sea views along the coast to St Michael’s Mount, slate-floors and a huge open plan living area with mullioned windows looking out to sea await. Everything here has been well thought out, there is a well-equipped kitchen as well as two bedrooms, a king size double and a twin bedded room, these share a family bathroom. Outside, you can wander the formal castle gardens and terraces. The very pretty hamlet of Rosudgeon is ideally placed for exploring the area. Nearby, you can spend the day exploring St Michael’s Mount or Penzance, both within a short drive, or for those seeking a day at the seaside the sandy beaches at Perran Sands, Marazion and Praa Sands are some of the best in the South West.
