The market town of Penrith has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a swimming pool and cinema, and further afield is the Lake District National Park. A short drive away are Alston, Appleby, Keswick and the magnificent lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater. Down the road from Edenhall there are many other attractive villages with country pubs serving fine quality cask ales. Drive to Langwathby on what has been voted among the top ten scenic driving roads in the world. The Eden Gorge is also well worth a visit, from where you can join the Settle-Carlisle Railway and enjoy one of the most beautiful railway journeys. Visit Alston, the highest market town in England, or take a day trip to discover the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
