This wonderful holiday home looks down into Fowey with super views out towards the estuary from the first floor particularly.

Thanks to its great location, the riverside town of Fowey is reachable on foot (downhill) and in just a few short minutes too!

The benefit of a private parking space in Fowey is a huge bonus and for many guests that stay at Bowshot, the car stays put for the entire holiday!

A couple of minutes walk from Bowshot Lady is the Safe Harbour Inn, serving a varied menu of dishes using locally sourced ingredients as well as local craft beers spirits and wine.

Just a short walk away you will find the iconic Fowey Hall Hotel with its splendid SPA. This wonderful spa facility is available to non residents and facilities include indoor/outdoor pools, steam sauna, indoor hot tub and signature horsebox sauna!

The closest beach to the centre of Fowey (especially good for families with its large sea water paddling pool) is Whitehouse beach. This beach is tidal and at high tides the beach will disappear for a time. The fabulous beach at Readymoney Cove is just a few minutes walk further along and is a lovely cove with sheltered waters and beach cafe/shop and toilets. Readymoney Cove and Whitehouse beach are dog friendly all year accept for July and August. For a summer, all year round, dog friendly beach you can choose between the nearby Par Sands and the less busy, Polridmouth beach.

Once you have fully exhausted and experienced the very pleasant vibe of Fowey and its abundance of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, then just across the water via passenger ferry is the hillside village of Polruan with traditional pubs, cafe and a shop or two.

Whilst staying in Fowey there are plenty of places to visit nearby and/or via a car but two must visit attractions (within just a half hours drive of Bowshot) are the world renowned Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Staying at Bowshot Lady is ideal for water sports enthusiasts – paddle boarding, kayaking and dinghy sailing. The Fowey estuary has great sheltered paddling and the nearby beaches of Polkerris and Porthpean provide opportunities for visiting Cornish coves and seeing wildlife. The house itself has a garage for storing all your paddle boards and kayaks as well as outside and inside drying facilities for wetsuits and kit. All this and the main Fowey launch point for paddling is less than 1km from the house!

Outside

On the lower level at the rear is a private enclosed patio sun trap. The mid level has a lovely sitting area looking down into the harbour and the upper level, has a pretty flower bordered terrace to relax on with a glass of wine and a good book!

The owners have provided all manner of garden furniture for your enjoyment and use including table, chairs, benches and loungers plus rotary dryer.

The local area

Fowey (pronounced “Foy”) is an inviting waterside town steeped in history. It stretches for a mile or so along the banks of the River Fowey and is a magnet for sailing enthusiasts. This vibrant place is a real joy to explore; whether you want to shop, sail, go to the beach, walk the South West Coast Path or simply watch the world go by whilst enjoying a pint.

Literary fanatics will be familiar with Fowey as it is synonymous with Daphne du Maurier. The author (famous for novels including Rebecca and Jamaica Inn) moved to the town with her family aged 20 and soon began writing short stories. A few years later, her first novel was published and she continued as a successful writer inspired by Fowey and the surrounding Cornish landscape.

Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Fowey enjoys fantastic views across the water to Polruan. It also has a sheltered, family friendly beach at Readymoney Cove from which you can walk to St Catherine’s Castle, which is the remains of a small fort built during Henry VIII’s reign to defend the harbour entrance.

There’s never a shortage of things to see and do in the town, with annual events such as the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature in early May, and the Regatta in late August, both being colourful and lively events worth adding to your calendar.

A holiday cottage in Fowey really is a fantastic base for an escape to Cornwall, with plenty to see and do, plus a great choice of places to eat. And if you fancy venturing out of the town, why not take the ferry across the river to Bodinnick and drive on to the idyllic fishing village of Polperro, or the family and dog-friendly beaches at Talland Bay.

Parking

There is parking for one car to the front of the property. Parking for additional cars may be possible on the road but most likely, via the long stay pay and display main car park up by the nearby Fowey Hall hotel.

**If you are not using the garage for the storage of water sport equipment, it is possible to park one small car in the garage in addition to the one advertised parking space provided in front of the garage.
