The nearest town is Romsey, seven miles away, with its busy market, historic abbey and Broadlands House, home of the Mountbatten family. Alternatively, the historic cathedral cities of both Salisbury and Winchester are well-worth a visit, or why not explore the scenic New Forest National Park, where swathes of purple heather and woodlands are home to wild ponies, cattle and deer?
