This charming studio cottage is part of the former station master’s house, in the hamlet of Liverton Mines on the outskirts of Loftus village. Offering all ground floor accommodation, the property has been tastefully modernised to a high standard. Entry is via a porch to a small kitchen, which leads into the spacious open plan studio, which incorporates a comfortable sitting area, a dining table and a double bed, plus there is a contemporary fully-tiled shower room. With fine attention to detail, the property feels warm and welcoming, in a pleasant setting. Outside, to the rear is a private patio garden, directly adjacent to a commercial goods train line, with six trains trundling by each day. This is not a fast or noisy line, and will undoubtedly interest railway enthusiasts. In fact, part of the fencing has been cut away to afford a better view! Close to some lovely sandy beaches and excellent walking trails, this station annexe is well placed for couples wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and the popular seaside towns of Saltburn and Whitby. The nearby fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay have strong Captain Cook connections, with small, pretty coves, coble landings and quaint, tiny fishermen’s cottages that tumble down towards the sea. Explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways and partake in coffee and cakes on the waterfront. The wide expanses of the North York Moors are on the doorstep, with many attractions, including fishing on the nearby Scaling Dam, the Danby Moors Tourist and Exhibition Centre and the steam railway at Grosmont. An excellent base for a varied and interesting holiday.
