The area is crisscrossed with footpaths and woodland walks with nearby Venn Ottery Nature Reserve, a site of special scientific interest. The town of Ottery St Mary is just a stone’s throw away and home to a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The birthplace of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Ottery’s most important building is the parish church of St. Mary, a magnificent scaled-down version of Exeter Cathedral, situated in the centre.
The regency town of Sidmouth remains a popular seaside destination, a short drive away, where you will find a great range of shops, cafes and restaurants, while Sidmouth Beach is a perfect family friendly spot for safe swimming and rock pooling at low tide.
