Those interested in history can visit the town’s surroundings, which include the remarkable 5500 year old Neolithic Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber as well as Castell Henllys Iron Age Village. Meet the Gentle Giants at the Shire Horse Farm in Eglwyswrw and then visit Cardigan, birthplace of the Welsh Eisteddfod in Cardigan Castle and the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran with its own imposing Norman castle, which are only a few miles further north. Heading west towards Fishguard, see the historic Fishguard Fort and then head down into the picturesque Lower Town harbour – the setting for Hollywood blockbusters Moby Dick starring Gregory Peck and Under Milkwood starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton! Then go up to visit the Town Hall and the ‘Last Invasion Tapestry’ that tells the incredible story of the Last Invasion of Mainland Britain of 1797 and of our Welsh heroine, Jemima Nicholas!
