Within 12 miles you have the bustling town of Dorchester, home to a traditional high street lined with a wide selection of well-known shops and complemented by lanes accommodating charming boutique shops and independent retailers. On the edge of Dorchester rests Maumbury Rings, a grassed Roman amphitheatre which is a lovely spot for a picnic, and in the summer months it becomes a great venue for music and theatre events. If you’re looking for a day by the coast, head to Weymouth, boasting a magnificent, award-winning beach which is perfect for sunbathing and swimming, as well as offering attractions such as Punch and Judy, donkey rides and pedalos, plenty to keep the children occupied! The World Heritage Sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are a must-visit, while Wareham Woods, Morden Bog Nature Reserve, Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve and Studland and Godlingston Heath National Nature Reserve provide idyllic scenery in abundance.
