    More Information

Nestled on one of the oldest streets in Mevagissey, Cornwall is Winterbrook Cottage, a fabulous 400 year old three-bedroom cottage full of character and charm, which was originally home to a pilchard press!

The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard and we hope we have provided as many home comforts as you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Winterbrook Cottage is a very short walk (less than 5 minutes) to the beautiful harbour where you can find lovely people serving fresh fish from their street food vans. There are locals and tourists alike who enjoy a coffee or glass of wine sat on the tables near the She Sells Café and a range of restaurants, traditional pubs and gorgeous shops you can spend hours browsing around. You will also have to negotiate a few children (and maybe even adults) trying their best to catch some crabs! Mevagissey is one of the oldest working fishing ports in the UK. Its name is derived from two saints – St Meva and St Issey – the first recording of the village is from 1313, and Bronze age settlements have also been found here..

Close to the centre of Mevagissey, a short walk will bring you to a selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, cafés and the picturesque harbour, filled with boats. Walk along the harbour wall, visit the Mevagissey Museum, and head along the coast in both directions to find a host of sandy beaches. The Lost Gardens of Hegelian botanical gardens is less than ten minutes away, while the world-famous Eden Project is within a 30-minute drive. Hop on a ferry at the harbour and visit Fowey, a town and cargo port situated at the mouth of the River Fowey, with a host of sandy beaches, like the National Trust Lantic Bay, along with sheltered coves such as Readymoney Cove and a host of attractions, including 16th century St Catherine’s Castle. Enjoy scenic walks along the south coast in both directions; head north to the market town of St Austell and onwards towards the Polperro Heritage Coastline, while south encompasses the Roseland Heritage Coastline, one of the most picturesque and unspoilt stretches of stunning coastline in the UK. Winterbrook Cottage is a wonderful, family-friendly property, close to the coast and a number of fantastic attractions in south Cornwall.
