Head to Penrith of an evening where you can enjoy a nice meal at one of its excellent pubs or restaurants. During the day, the sandstone buildings hide some intriguing yards, lanes and alleyways, with a myriad of attractive gardens and shops to explore. Penrith also offers a museum and Millennium Trails for those historians among you. The bustling town of Keswick, Brougham Castle, Long Meg and her daughters and the city of Carlisle are all within short distance. The stunning beauty of the Lake District and the bountiful landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales are right on the doorstep, ideal for walkers, climbers and cyclists alike, as well as the wonder of Ullswater lake begin just a short scenic drive away, holding history in the form of Pooley Bridge alongside ample opportunities to explore landscapes like no other.
