Bontnewydd 2.4 miles. Yr Hen Stabl is a characterful cottage nestled rurally in the village of Llanwnda near Bontnewydd, Gwynedd. This family-friendly abode is perfect for those looking to reconnect with nature thanks to its proximity to the nearby beach and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, whilst offering a group of six with a charming and homely abode, set on a working dairy farm. Benefit from a private driveway, with enough space for two cars, before unloading your belongings and unpacking into this stone-fronted dwelling. Head indoors, kick off your muddy boots, and appreciate the heart-warming atmosphere of the home, where you’ll find an open-plan living space with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area, the perfect spot to relax and dine with loved ones and make plans for the days ahead. The sitting room will be your go-to for film nights in, with a woodburning stove adding to the setting, or if the weather allows, socialise and dine alfresco, taking advantage of the enclosed and private garden space. Head upstairs and you’ll find three bedrooms; a super-king-size, a king-size and a twin, along with a bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower, whilst a handy cloakroom and utility rests downstairs. For a day away from Yr Hen Stabl and a chance to stretch your legs, why not visit the village of Bontnewydd, where you can sample some of the local delicacies and explore the area’s picturesque surroundings, with Gypsy Wood Park nearby, a firm favourite with families. Take a short drive to the characterful town of Caernarfon and get lost in its narrow, cobbled streets, visit the World Heritage fortress of Caernarfon Castle, people watch from the marina, or continue north and take a trip to the lively seaside city of Bangor, home to National Trust – Penrhyn Castle & Garden and Bangor Promenade. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, venture to the village of Llanberis, at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdonia) mountain range and enjoy one of the many walking trails in the area, taking in the breath-taking views across the national park. As night falls, make sure to head back to Yr Hen Stabl for some well-deserved rest in the comfort of your home-from-home.
