Holiday cottages in Northern-Ireland

Northern Ireland boasts stunning scenery and landscapes and is the perfect destination for independent travellers who have a love for natural beauty as well as diverse history and culture to explore. Arranging a rental property for several weeks provides visitors with the freedom to explore Northern Ireland at their own pace, and there are some excellent cottages to rent scattered throughout Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland is divided into a number of regions, each of which with its own unique characteristics and attractions. Country Antrim is home to the city of Belfast as well as the stunning North Coast, while County Armagh boasts a rich military history as well as attractions such as Navan Fort. County Londonderry is a vibrant area where the city of Derry can be found, while County Down boasts the enchanting coastal resort of Bangor and the picturesque Mourne Mountains. County Fermangh is a mainly rural county that can be found close to the Irish border, while County Tyrone is home to the impressive Sperrin Mountains.

No trip to Northern Ireland would be complete without taking the time to get to know the capital city of Belfast. Popular attractions here include Donegal Square and the Grand Opera House, while the city’s nightlife scene has a lot to offer visitors. The cost of eating out in Belfast can be rather high, which makes self catering accommodation an excellent option. Cottages for rent can be found both in the city itself and on the outskirts of Belfast.

The north of this enchanting country features dramatic coastline that is marked by the Causeway Coast. Hiring a holiday cottage here is an excellent option for nature lovers and there are plenty of great UK cottages to choose from. One of the most impressive natural features in this region is the Giant’s Causeway, which is a remarkable seascape that consists of thousands of upstanding basalt shafts.

Visitors who have rented a cottage here can then head west to Londonderry. This vibrant city is home to a large number of poets, musicians and storytellers. Regular festivals are held in Londonderry to celebrate the city’s strong connection with the arts and visitors who time their trip to coincide with one of these colourful festivals will be treated to a real insight into the local culture.

The south-eastern region is home to the Kingdoms of Down, and many people travel here in order to soak up views of the Mountains of Mourne as well as Strangford Lough. Several enchanting fishing villages can also be found in this part of Northern Ireland as well as picturesque gardens and historic houses.

The city of Derry is also known as Londonderry and the Maiden City and sits on the banks of the Foyle River. This is Northern Ireland’s second city and the stone city walls here date back to the 16th century. These famous walls are worth admiring, particularly as they are the only complete city walls to be found in the whole of Ireland.

One of the great things about Northern Ireland is that there is such as diverse range of things for people to see and do. Lovers of historical buildings will be able to send several days, if not weeks, exploring castles, stately homes and other structures of historical significance.

People who enjoy messing about on the water will be able to take part in a wide range of different types of aquatic activities in Northern Ireland, especially along the North Coast. Everything from sailing to scuba diving is available here and a large number of companies offer special water sports packages that come complete with equipment hire. Taking a boat trip is also a great way to see Northern Ireland in a whole new way, while sun worshippers can spend many pleasant days simply soaking up the sun on the country’s beautiful sandy beaches.
