    More Information

Situated at the entrance to a delightful courtyard in Clappersgate and close to the town of Ambleside, Courtyard Cottage is a two-bedroom holiday home, which was formerly one of the stables or grooms’ cottages at the impressive Croft. This location is an excellent base from which to discover the wondrous fells, spectacular lakes and beautiful countryside of the Lake District.
Park in your one of your two private spaces, take a short walk to your south facing patio and then go into your charming dining and kitchen area to admire the lovely garden views. Walk through the large archway and marvel at the spacious double height sitting room with exposed roof timbers and feature cast iron log burner. Look up to appreciate the stunning gallery, then go through a small hall to find a stylish, comfortably furnished double bedroom and a modern bathroom with large walk-in shower. Climb the stairs to your characterful, galleried sleeping area with two single beds set under the eaves and a beautiful wooden ceiling with exposed timbers. Throughout this unique property you will find tasteful furnishings with original watercolours on display.
If you enjoy walking, set out from your doorstep to discover many fine walks. Nearby Todd Crag will reward you with panoramic views of Lake Windermere. Be inspired by a walk up to lovely Wansfell Pike or challenge yourself to a day-long hike around the acclaimed Fairfield Horseshoe.
Take a bus to nearby Skelwith Bridge, then take the beautiful level walk to the pretty village of Elterwater. Walk along Under Loughrigg to visit Wordsworth’s family home, the sixteenth century Rydal Mount and enjoy its lovely, five-acre landscaped gardens with glorious views of Rydal Water. On your return, search out your pretty, shared riverside gardens where you can relax by the flowing River Brathay
