The Tamar Valley AONB Centre is located in the small nearby village of Drakewalls, offering information on local places to visit. This area is famous for its mining heritage landscape, with the Tamar River meandering through a patchwork of green fields. There is walking and cycling in abundance for those who like getting out and about, as well as the National Trust’s Cotehele and Cotehele Mill and Morwellham Quay taking you back in time with its copper mine museum. Explore the area by boat on the Tamar Passenger Ferry or you can ride the train on the scenic Tamar Valley Railway Line. You also have Launceston in the north, with its Norman castle, Tavistock to the east, known as the gateway to Dartmoor and Saltash to the south famous for its Brunel Bridge.
