Resplendent with Snowdrops and Daffodils in the Spring, and surrounded by wildlife at all times of year – you could be rewarded with the sightings of red kites, rabbits, geese and occasionally muntjac deer as you rest and relax after your day’s outings. The Shepherd’s hut is a beautifully laid out space complete with a partially hidden box double bed to feel extra cosy, a small but efficient log burner and a nook dining table at which to eat or journal your days adventures. The small kitchenette contains a fridge, air fryer, kettle, toaster and sink. Completing the interior is a shower room fitted with a walk-in shower, offering a practical and well-planned space for everyday use. Outside, guests can enjoy a lawn area with furniture, providing a spot to dine outside and take in the rural surroundings. The Shepherd’s Hut is accessed via steps and is not suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Local amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants in Wallingford are about a 30 minute walk on footpaths, or a short hop by car, and the surrounding area offers opportunities to explore Oxford, Reading and Henley-on-Thames, alongside riverside walks, historic market towns, and scenic countryside across Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The hut is located on the famous Ridgeway walk and the newly christened Old Chalk Way bikepacking route launched this year, and very near the Thames Path. Local points of interest are Grim’s Ditch, the Wittenham Clumps and in Mongewell itself St John’s Church as featured in 3 Men in a Boat. With its unique style and setting, The Shepherds Hut offers a memorable base for a rural break.
