Camac is a lovely beachside holiday cottage, just a few steps from two golden sandy beaches where lazy summer days can be idled away digging sand castles, indulging in serious cream teas, paddling in the rock pools but close enough to nip back ‘home’ to cool off and have a sand-free lunch in the garden! This delightful terraced cottage, originally a pair of coastguard cottages, is tucked below Shippens, the grassy hillock, that divides the beaches of Outer and Inner Hope in the middle of the picturesque seaside fishing village of Hope Cove. This is a wonderful spot at any time of the year.
Please note: Due to the steepness and setup of the stairs the property may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm. Children need to be supervised in the garden due to unfenced boundary leading to cliffs.
At the rear of the cottage is an unfenced lawned area, with two picnic benches, chairs, charcoal barbecue and low walls on one side. (There are no fenced boundaries between the garden areas of the other cottages). The ground rises and extends on to the higher part of the hillside. This natural area is owned by all the cottages in the row, so is communal and although the views from the top are spectacular, children will need very careful supervision as it is unfenced and the land drops away as a vertical cliff face to the sea below. The front of the cottage has two benches and faces a single track lane, mainly used as a footpath between the beaches.
Hope Cove is one of our most popular and sought-after destinations. A quaint old fishing village sat in picture postcard surroundings, it is home to some of the finest coastal holiday cottages in Devon. Hope Cove is the perfect location for those wanting a traditional British seaside holiday in a stunning, natural setting. Formed around the twin villages of Inner and Outer Hope, the cove benefits from two golden sandy beaches, and an abundance of rock pools for the kids to potter about in, looking for signs of marine life. The beach at Inner Hope often offers perfect conditions for safe body boarding.
Hope Cove is home to the Hope and Anchor pub and The Cove, an uber-cool café bar that serves late breakfasts and sunset suppers just a stone's throw from the scenic beach. The Hope Cove Gallery exhibits wonderful local art and crafts, and is a great place to pick up a souvenir or just have a lazy browse to escape the summer sun. Alternatively, treat yourself to an ice-cream, find a quiet bench and watch the waves gently roll into the bay. The adventurous might be inclined to set forth in search of little-known Beacon Beach, where they are likely to find themselves alone with only the gulls for company, while walkers can take the coast path east towards Bolberry and beyond, or west to South Milton Sands for a swim followed by a meal at the fabulous Beach House.
Quaint Thurlestone with its choice of stunning beaches is just a short drive away or can be reached by foot by following the coast path to the west. Bantham and Salcombe are also nearby, and you won't have to venture far to take in the rest of the South Devon countryside.
A holiday cottage in Hope Cove is the ideal choice for anyone looking for a memorable holiday on the Devon coast.
