From the lounge, a staircase leads to the first floor and a galleried landing with a dedicated workstation with desk and monitor. There are two upstairs bedrooms, both with vaulted timber panelled ceilings. The first, the Master Bedroom has a 5ft King size bed, fitted wardrobes and a dressing table. The second, Bedroom 3 has twin 3ft single beds (NB beds are each 1.6m long), with two additional low pull-out trundle beds. Chest of drawers, hanging hooks on the door. Located at the head of the Avon estuary, a holiday in Aveton Gifford finds you ideally placed to discover the stunning scenery and wildlife of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The beautiful sandy beaches of Bantham, Bigbury and Thurlestone are all less than five miles’ drive away, 20 minutes brings you to Salcombe, and 30 minutes to Dartmouth or Dartmoor National Park.
The South Efford Marsh nature reserve is accessed from the bridge, complete with bird-hide for the best views of migrating swans, geese, ducks and wading birds in spring and autumn. From here you can also access the glorious 8-mile circular Avon Estuary Walk, which in turn connects with the South West Coastal Path at Bantham. The estuary is also popular amongst kayakers and paddle-boarders, who love gently drifting down to Bantham on the outgoing tide, and anyone can enjoy a peaceful stroll through this wildlife-rich landscape.
Aveton Gifford village has a pub, local shop and post office for essentials, and the shops, bars and restaurants of Kingsbridge and Modbury are both within a 10 minute drive. Seafood fans meanwhile will love The Oyster Shack – a South Hams favourite – just 1½ miles along the scenic estuary tidal road.
