Parking

If you are looking for a holiday home with sea views, then Trebarfoote has the most glorious sea and river views looking out across to Fowey, Readymoney Cove and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

Set in an elevated position yet tucked away in a quiet pocket of Polruan, Trebarfoote offers the perfect location for a relaxing family or couples holiday. Oh, and by the way, access to the coastal footpath is right on your doorstep!

The village of Polruan has a couple of charming, traditional pubs as well as village store and lovely cafe. The foot passenger ferry across to Fowey operates all year round with later crossing times during the season. The car ferry across to Fowey from Polruan leaves from Bodinnick (3 miles away) and again operates all year round – (both services are likely not to operate on Christmas Day and Boxing Day).

Nearby Lantic Bay beach (known as the hidden gem) is a fantastic beach owned by the National Trust and is just over a mile from Polruan. Dog friendly all year round, this wonderfully sheltered cove with golden sand is a terrific place to enjoy some much needed downtime. Check out this link for further information regarding access, parking and beach facilities – https://www.cornwallbeachguide.co.uk/secornwall/lantic/lantic.htm

Bodinnick was home to Daphne du Maurier and her family and is where she wrote her first novel, The Loving Spirit. The family home, Ferryside, is unmistakeable from the water with its famous blue shutters and cream walls.

Once you have enjoyed your time in Fowey with its bustling high street with pubs, cafes and restaurants, heading back across the water to the more quiet Polruan is what so many of its loyal visitors love.

Polruan has a couple of small beaches (Quay beach and Back beach), the latter being the better of the two. Whilst small, this largely sandy beach provides a welcome sandy spot for families. Please be aware, that the beaches are tidal and will disappear at high tide!

The picturesque village Polperro and its lively neighbour Looe are a short 6 and 10 mile drive from Polruan.

Further afield are the must visit attractions – Lost Gardens of Heligan and of course The Eden Project which are 24 and 17 miles respectively from Polruan.

Outside

There is a decked and glass-fronted balcony off the living room with furniture provided to take in those amazing views. There is also a lawn garden to the front and back of the property.

The local area

If you’re looking for a tranquil seaside setting, you’re sure to love a holiday in Polruan. Built on a steep hill on the mouth of the River Fowey, Polruan is an ancient fishing village and boat-building hub, filled with seaside charm. It’s secluded and unspoilt – the perfect place to relax and unwind. Set across the harbour from its busier neighbour Fowey, Polruan is surrounded by water on three sides, so unsurprisingly holidays here revolve around the sea.

Start your Polruan holiday by waking up to the sight of the water from an old fisherman’s cottage, then spend your day sailing, kayaking or swimming, enjoying creamy Cornish ice creams and crabbing from the quay – you’ll find all the supplies in the quirkily named ‘Winkle Picker’ shop. If you’re a more serious angler, you’ll find plenty of fish in the sea here, including John Dory, mackerel, mullet and bass.

Polruan is situated on a very steep hill, access to some parts of the village can be challenging. Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via steps and slopes some of which can be steep.

Hop on the ferry to Fowey where you’ll find a wonderful choice of places to eat, from swanky waterfront seafood restaurants and cosy Cornish pubs to bakeries and crab sandwich shacks. Spend time browsing the many boutiques, independent shops and art galleries, then follow the esplanade to Readymoney Cove. This sandy beach is beautifully sheltered, ideal for swimming, sunbathing and sand-free picnics. While in Fowey, you can also hire a little motor boat and explore the stunning surroundings at your own pace, dropping anchor wherever you like.

Back in Polruan, you can join the spectacular clifftop tracks of the South West Coast Path from the top of the village. One of our must-dos when on holiday in Polruan is to follow the coast path to Lantic Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches around, with white sand crystal clear waters. If you’re feeling energetic, hike further still to pretty Polperro and its white-washed cottages.

During your stay, make sure to visit Polruan’s tiny neighbouring village of Bodinnick with its lovely waterside pub, the Old Ferry Inn. It’s here that Daphne du Maurier lived and where she wrote her first novel. In fact, her family still lived in the very same waterfront house, Ferryside. Today, you can celebrate her life and works at Fowey’s annual Festival of Arts and Literature.

From Polruan, you can also visit Charlestown harbour, famed by Poldark, the bustling fishing port of Mevagissey and the world-famous biomes of the Eden Project.

Parking

There is private parking directly in front of the property for 2 cars. Care will need to be taken with larger cars as the approach roads are narrow but nonetheless, possible. Please contact the office if you require further information.

The reasonably priced long stay (St Saviours Hill) car park is located just a few minutes walk from Trebarfoote if additional parking is required. The car park from Trebarfoote can be accessed by either walking along the coastal footpath or back along Battery Lane and up St Saviours Hill.
