Stable Barn Cottage is a beautifully presented private wing attached to the owners own property yet entirely separate with its own parking. The cottage is a charming retreat, perfect for single people and couples to escape and unwind and situated in the village of East Prawle, the southernmost point of Devon. The cottage provides a fantastic base from which to explore the South West Coast Path, and the picturesque South Hams before coming back to a relaxing drink in the local pub, The Pigs Nose, or cosying up at the cottage in front of the log burner.
East Prawle is a traditional Devon village with a quirky local pub which also has a popular live music venue attached, plus a shop and café, all nestled around the village green. The village itself sits in a clifftop location perfect for exploring the South West Coast Path, historic Dartmouth, 40 minutes away and the bustling market town of Kingsbridge is 30 minutes away. The popular sailing town of Salcombe can be accessed from the foot ferry at East Portlemouth, 3 miles away, with shops, cafes and restaurants. A host of beaches, and local villages are all waiting to be explored.

The local area
East Prawle is a lovely rural village a mile inland from Prawle Point, the most southerly tip of Devon. The coastline here is rugged, with magnificent cliffs, delightful coves, hidden beaches, and a breathtaking stretch of the South West Coast Path. The area is quiet, unspoilt and boasts an abundance of wildlife and birds, including the rare cirl buntings which farmers and naturalists are working hard to protect.
East Prawle village is surrounded by fields with stunning rural and coastal views. The village has a green, the quirky former smugglers' hide, The Pig'sNose Inn, and the seasonal Piglet Stores and Café which serves excellent, hearty breakfasts and delicious cream teas. The nearby stretch of coastline is said to resemble the shape of a pig's head, which explains the local pig references!
From East Prawle you can take a 2 mile stroll to East Portlemouth to catch the ferry over to Salcombe to enjoy shops, cafés, restaurants, and everything else that the sailing mecca has to offer.
For walkers this area is idyllic rambling country which can begin or end at the award-winning Millbrook Inn, South Pool situated just off the main Kingsbridge to Dartmouth road. A walk in Pig country is guaranteed to be a most memorable and enjoyable experience!
