    More Information

Sixpenny Cottage is a pretty stone-built cottage located in the village of Upwey, in the seaside town of Weymouth.
Designed with its own entrance, separate from the main family house, it has good privacy, internally the property is generous and charmingly decorated and leads into the spacious sitting/dining room you can unwind. The cosy large bedroom has an aspect of the garden and nearby woodlands. The comfortable kitchen is fully equipped to cover all your basic needs in which to prepare wonderful meals. The shower room still retains some of the original stone work.
Discovered in the fireplace of an old shepherd’s cottage, that once stood on the site, Sixpenny Cottage takes its name from a Treasure Trove of James I Six Pence pieces. Now, it is a holiday cottage that offers pretty and peaceful surroundings. A leisurely stroll takes you to the Wishing Well where you can enjoy an extensive menu offering homemade cooking and a variety of delicious puddings and cakes. Take a slow walk around the gardens, making a wish at the wishing well and you walk around. Upwey village has two pubs to choose from where you can enjoy an evening out without having to head into town. Perfect for guests with an artistic talent the village offers inspiration with its majestic Horse Chestnut trees and sparkling stream. For the birder or twitcher alike the surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for walking and bird watching. Thomas Hardy gained inspiration for some of his most famous books from this area.
With an aura of yester years, the numerous attractive stone cottages which front the village add to this truly English scene. Sixpenny Cottage is a wonderful holiday home to enjoy a holiday.
