The nearby, historic ruined village of Hallsands,can be seen from a viewing platform very near Prospect House. The famous South West Coastal Path, which is right on the doorstep, has fabulous walks along rugged cliffs that dip into sandy coves offering some of the best scenery in the UK. Alternatively, pack up and head over the hill to the beach at North Hallsands. The nearby villages of Beesands, South Pool, Stokenham and Chillington all boast superb pubs, and the town of Kingsbridge has all amenities, just twenty five minutes away. The historic town of Dartmouth can be reached along the coastal road and has a good selection of shops and galleries along with eateries. Popular Salcombe can be reached via the foot ferry from East Portlemouth or by road forty minutes away. The beautiful beaches of Slapton Sands, Mill Bay and East Portlemouth are all just twenty minutes away, and keen walkers can enjoy a trip to Dartmoor.

Hallsands is a small pretty fishing village located on a stunning stretch of the South West Coast Path between Beesands, with its excellent pub, seafood shack and village store, and the Start Point Lighthouse, which is surrounded by magnificent, rugged coastline.
The village itself is steeped in history. In the early twentieth century a rare combination of high tides and a raging storm wreaked havoc, and by the storm's end only one house remained. The village was later rebuilt higher up the cliff face and now overlooks the remaining ruins which can be seen from a viewing platform, just off the coast path.
Hallsands is well-placed for visiting many of the most popular South Hams spots, including picturesque villages such East Prawle, Beesands and Torcross, and the larger coastal towns of Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. This area of South Devon is renowned for its beautiful beaches and unspoilt countryside.

The Millbrook Inn, South Pool, 4 miles, Bear and Blacksmith pub, Chillington, 4 miles. Ashby Superstores with well stocked shop, leisure store and fuel 6 miles. Kingsbridge with all facilities, 8.5 miles.
