More information

Bishop’s Castle 2.6 miles. This semi-detached cottage sits in a rural position just outside of the market town of Bishop’s Castle, along the border of England and Wales. Offering lovely surrounding views and a combination of character and contemporary features, 1 Hetfield Cottages is a great place to call home for a family of four. Step into the entrance vestibule into the kitchen/diner, featuring quarry styled flooring, with a selection of appliances from which you can become familiar with during your stay. Gather at the dining table as you serve up the fruits of your labour, using this time to discuss where next to explore. Climb the stairs to reach the first floor, home to a rustic sitting room with views of the Long Mynd and Clee Hill, a space where you can choose a book from the provided selection and relax. Freshen up in the shower room before retiring to either of the bedrooms; on the first floor there is a twin whilst up another flight of stairs leads to the second-floor attic bedroom with a double bed and Velux windows. Once you’re ready to explore, your nearest amenities can be found in Bishop’s Castle; grab brunch at The Poppy House or return later in the evening to The Three Tuns Inn brewery, the oldest licensed brewery in Britain. Pick up fresh produce from the market, housed by the Lydham village hall, or head to the convenience store for any cupboard essentials, whilst the town also offers a museum and historical landmarks where you can immerse yourself in culture. Lace up your walking boots and tour the Welsh marches, rural Shropshire and North Herefordshire, encompassing routes across stunning landscapes for all abilities. Enjoy a hike at the Long Mynd, Clee Hill, and Offa’s Dyke, or walk to the close by iron age hill fort at Caer Din. However you choose to spend your time, return to the character of 1 Hetfield Cottages and recharge for the next adventure.
