Close to some of the finest beaches in South Devon, 11 Bigbury Court is a cosy and beautifully presented property. The complex of converted barns is sat in the quiet village of Bigbury which is less than two miles from the golden sands of Bigbury on Sea. Perfect for a couple or small family and allowing up to 2 dogs, this cottage is a family friendly base to explore the beautiful surrounding area. A communal dog walking area within the complex and use of the garage for storage of beach toys, wetsuits or buggies makes this home a great choice to make wonderful holiday memories! The village of Modbury, full of independent shops and eateries is just a short drive away and the Oyster Shack, a renowned seafood extravaganza is within a ten minute drive. The South West Coastal Path is easily accessible from the cottage, making this property perfect for walkers too, plus of course further afield areas of the South Hams, Totnes, Dartmouth and Dartmoor National Park all within easy reach for exploring.
An enclosed gravel area to the front of the house with outside seating for 4. There is also a communal green area that is designated for dog walking. Dogs can be off the lead in this space. There is also a garage that can be used by guests to store beach toys and equipment, buggies etc.
The small village of Bigbury is a great spot for a holiday. It’s just a couple of miles from the beach and gives easy access to the scenic South Hams and the wild beauty of Dartmoor. It has a Post Office and shop, and keen golfers will be pleased at its proximity to the Bigbury Golf Club and its stunning views right across Bigbury Bay. The rest of the family will be thrilled by the superb sandy beach at nearby Bigbury on Sea – a favourite among families, surfers and dog walkers. Nearby in St Anne's Chapel is a great family and dog-friendly pub, the 16th century Pickwick Inn, serving excellent locally sourced food and drinks with an Italian themed restaurant. Alternatively, you can sample some local seafood at the family-friendly Oyster Shack, on the back roads between Bigbury and Aveton Gifford.
Those looking to refuel on the beach will enjoy the open air Venus Café in Bigbury on Sea. Or for something a bit different, the 14th century Pilchard Inn, perched off shore on Burgh Island, is a firm favourite among visitors looking to have a tipple in a traditional drinking tavern. The island's famous hotel makes for an exquisite destination for anyone looking for a special meal out.
At low tide, cross the sand causeway to Burgh Island and climb to the top for a fantastic view of the bay, and if the tide is in, don’t panic! You can climb aboard the sea tractor for a ride unlike any other!
