This delightful, detached farm cottage (originally the Manor Dairy) is situated on a mixed working farm keeping beef cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens. The cottage enjoys a superb location looking out over fields to the open forest beyond. It is comfortably furnished and equipped, and offers an attractive and peaceful place for a family holiday throughout the year, with guests able to enjoy a cosy wood burning stove in the colder months. This is a wonderful place from which to explore the beautiful countryside on foot or by bicycle.

Minstead is an attractive little village, focussed around a picture postcard village green. A perfect base for those who want to experience a traditional village. Surrounded by open forest, fields and walks, visitors often see ponies, donkeys and sometimes the odd pig dawdling along the roads and lanes. The pace of life here maybe serene and tranquil, but you’ll find villagers put on a lovely calendar of events throughout the year – most of which are held in the large Village Hall.
For an excellent meal, something to drink (a fine selection of ales) and popular events calendar, try the Trusty Servant Inn. It’s an outstanding pub on the edge of the village green, with a large sunny beer garden. When the weather turns crisp and chilly you can snuggle up around cosy log fires.
There are some well-known attractions in the village as well. The first being the grave of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of Sherlock Holmes who is buried in 13th Century All Saints Church. It’s an interesting little church and worth popping in. Minstead is also home to the Minstead Study Centre. The centres primary use is for residential children’s experiences, but they also have a calendar of events throughout the year, open to visitors. These include willow workshops, gardening skills, cooking demos, quiz nights and singing. Furzey Gardens should be on your list of places to visit anytime of the year. First planted in 1922, the gardens are now a mature 10 acres of informal and enchanting woodland gardens, featuring plants from around the world. There’s also a gallery, gift and coffee shop.
