Resting in the centre of Hawkshead is a charming, detached bungalow, Curlew Cottage. Located in a private cul-de-sac, Curlew Cottage offers a wonderful base for four guests, ideal for couples, families, and friends, looking to explore the delights of the Lake District National Park. The home has a host of features including a homely sitting room, two well-presented bedrooms, one with en suite facilities, a relaxing family bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen/diner to make some lovely meals. There are beautiful gardens at both the front and rear of the property meaning you can relax with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Keen walkers will be spoilt for choice with an abundance of trails and fells right on the doorstep, whilst for cyclists, the cottage is in close proximity to Grizedale Forest and of course Windermere and Coniston provide a great place for a little fun on the water. Hawkshead village itself has a fascinating literary history to investigate, perhaps while enjoying a drink in one of the excellent local pubs. It’s famously associated with William Wordsworth who attended school in the village and Beatrix Potter where today the National Trust exhibits her original artwork in the old offices of Beatrix’s husband William Heelis. Around the market square there is a delightful array of shops and cafes and with four pubs in the village there is a great choice of places to eat and drink. Curlew Cottage is the perfect base from which to discover all this and experience a memorable holiday.
