Explore the southern tip of Coniston Water and the east of the Lake passing through Nibthwaite catching glimpses of “Wild Cat Island”, Peel Island as featured in Swallows and Amazons. There are lots of places to park up and wander through the woods and along the shore. Further up is Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin, where you can enjoy the landscaped gardens with views across to the Coniston Fells and a tasty afternoon tea in their tearoom. On the other side of Coniston Water you can hire kayaks and rowing boats and even participate on sailing courses and stand up paddle boarding. Grizedale Forest is also close by with lots of tracks and trails to explore, both on foot or on a bike, whilst there is also Go Ape for the more adventurous. At the end of the day, return to your countryside cottage and enjoy the rural location. A lovely cottage at any time of the year.
