    More Information

Stylish apartment in Applethwaite Hall built at the height of the Arts and Crafts movement close to Windermere in the Lake District and has stunning original features with a firepace and Victoria stone windows. Named after the architect Thomas Muirhead who in addition to designing Applethwaite Hall was also responsible for the cricket Pavilions at Manchester Old Trafford and The Oval. On the lower ground floor Muirhead is approached through the communal entrance to the hall and offers luxurious accommodation in a beautiful setting. The sitting room has been elegantly decorated and has original stone pillars, panelling together with a Smart TV. The kitchen/diner is superbly equipped with large picture windows over looking the grounds. There is a spacious master bedroom with super-king sized bed and ensuite shower room. There are a further 2 bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Outside there is a covered private terrace and shared use of the extensive grounds including immaculate lawns with views over to the Langdales. Applethwaite is an enviable location; easily reached by car or by train and perfectly placed to explore Windermere village, Bowness, Lake Windermere and all the Lake District has to offer.

This owner does not accept children under 11, please ensure you take note of this upon booking.

Windermere is a lovely place to make yourself at home with an abundance of cafés, restaurants and traditional Lake District pubs to choose from and plenty of shops for stocking up the kitchen. A number of superb walks begin nearby, including the easy ascent of Orrest Head which promises spectacular views to Lake Windermere from the top. There are also many National Trust and other historic properties and gardens to enjoy near at hand including the 400 year old farmhouse at Townend, Holehird Gardens (the home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society) and the beautifully restored Arts and Crafts house, Blackwell

For touring by car, you’ll find Windermere a great place to start. A famously scenic stretch of the A591 leads to Ambleside, Rydal Water and historic Grasmere. Branch off into the Troutbeck Valley and take one of the most breathtaking scenic drives in the Lake District – over Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater with a stop at the acclaimed Queen’s Head for lunch. This superb property makes a delightful base for a Lake District holiday at any time of the year.
