You are ideally placed for exploring this wonderful coastal region, with easy access to Fistral Beach, offering dunes and cliffs lining up alongside the sand, and is ideal for taking a picnic and relaxing on the soft sand, or having a swim in the water, or choose to explore nearby Crantock Beach, a truly stunning beach popular for surfing, swimming and watersports, where at low tide you can cross the river and walk into Newquay, and at high tide during the summer season a ferry boat can take you across, alternatively, venture further afield to Poly Joke beach via a scenic stroll across the commons or via car to the Cubert Common Car Park, where you will be greeted by stunning coves and cliff walks, an excellent spot for seeing sea birds and seals, and enjoying beautiful sunsets whilst walking through the spectacle of its wild flowers. Crantock has wonderful coastal walks with outstanding scenery, and benefits from being within walking distance of the Gannel Estuary, excellent for bird watchers and watersports. The Gannel can be crossed at low tide by means of a foot bridge with access to the town of Newquay and all of its superb beaches, as well as Trenance Gardens with its boating lake, restaurant, café and play area. The coastal path in the other direction will take you for miles, over Cubert Common to Poly Joke Beach, down to Holywell Bay, on to Perranporth, over to St Agnes and beyond, and if tiredness gets the better of you there are busses on route to bring you safely back to your destination. Travel into the thriving town of Newquay and discover a range of tourist attractions, such as Newquay Zoo, set in 13-acres and housing some of the world’s rarest and endangered animals, including sloths! Or venture towards the delightful Blue Reef Aquarium, to spot all the exotic underwater creatures, including sharks and turtles, with feeding sessions, and with buses running from just outside of the property to Newquay, Truro, Perranporth and St Agnes, you’ll have no trouble in reaching these wonderful attractions. Crantock and the surrounding area with its many lanes is also idea for cyclists, with its minor roads being quiet and linking up with Newquay, Perranporth and beyond, there’s so much to explore here. If you fancy a spot of history, travel towards Trerice, a historic Elizabethan manor house with period furnishings, formal gardens and on-site restaurant if you decide to get some lunch.
