Just a 10 minute drive from the maritime town of Falmouth which is home to Henry VIIIs Pendennis Castle, Trenoweth Vean Cottages are set in an elevated position just outside the village of Mabe with far reaching views of the surrounding countryside. To one side of a country lane you will find Lilliput, Tom Thumb and Thumbelina they're sympathetically converted cottages are set in a row adjacent to the owners farmhouse offering comfortable year round holiday accommodation with the added benefit of double glazing.
The village of Mabe, half a mile, has a post office / stores and a pub which offers a good selection of pub food, there is a large supermarket at Penryn 5 minutes drive, and the sandy beaches of Falmouth Bay are approximately 5 miles. There is a pleasant circular walk around Argal Reservoir nearby which is noted for its wildlife and is a well-stocked coarse fishery, and Stithians Lake Country Park about 4 miles away has a range of water-based activities including sailing, windsurfing and kayaking.
The Flicka Foundation Horse and Donkey Sanctuary is close by and the glorious gardens of Penjerrick, Glendurgan and Trebah, on the banks of the Helford River, are less than a 15 minute drive away. Each cottage has its own individual character but there are many similar features. Low walled patio gardens are laid out in front of the row and there is a shared lawned garden and a drying area for each at the rear. There is ample parking space for one car per property.

Life in Falmouth revolves around the sea. Boats of every shape and size fill the waterfront, from colourful fishing boats on the old quay, shiny super yachts in the marinas and huge ships in the industrial docks. Built around the third largest deep-water harbour in the world, this bustling town is steeped in maritime history. In 1540, King Henry VIII built Pendennis Castle on the edge of the Fal estuary to defend against invasions and protect the Carrick Roads waterway. Over 200 years later, it was Falmouth where the news of Nelson’s death, and Britain’s victory at Trafalgar, was first landed and taken to London.
Today, you can embark on your own voyage of discovery at the National Maritime Museum. With 15 galleries, interactive exhibits, a boatbuilding workshop and an underwater viewing window, kids and adults alike will love learning about Falmouth’s vibrant past.
