The small village of Burton-in-Kendal offers a village post office, a convenience store and an all-in-one pub and restaurant where you can enjoy a tasty meal if you fancy a night off cooking. A number of delightful walks and cycle routes can be found from the door, whilst the nearby medieval Devil’s Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale and the Lune Valley, a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, are well worth a visit. Venture into the Lake District National Park and explore the many charming towns and villages; spend an afternoon in Ambleside, browsing the quirky shops and attractions before enjoying a relaxing cruise across Lake Windermere, offering a different way to admire the Lakeland’s beauty, or visit the popular town of Bowness where you can learn about the fascinating life of Beatrix Potter. Lancaster and Kendal are also easily accessed and there are fantastic fishing and riding opportunities nearby, together with a choice of golf courses.
