Front door into Lounge with a woodburner, TV, 1 x 3 person sofa, 2 x armchair, table with 3 chairs (5 in total within the house), desk with chair, lamps, Wi-Fi, log wood burner and bookshelf. Kitchen which is fully equipped with microwave, oven, hob, free standing fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee machine.

Aveton Gifford is a peaceful haven ideally situated to explore the very best of the South Hams. Walk just minutes from your front door to join the stunning Avon Estuary walk, a paradise for birdwatchers, walkers, and wild swimmers. The village itself hosts The Fisherman’s Rest, a highly-regarded traditional pub serving excellent food, alongside a well-equipped village shop.

When the sea calls, the world-class sandy beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea and Bantham (famous for surfing and dramatic views of Burgh Island) are just a short 15-minute drive away. The bustling market towns of Kingsbridge and Salcombe are also within easy reach for boutique shopping and boat trips.

The local area

Located at the head of the Avon estuary, a holiday in Aveton Gifford finds you ideally placed to discover the stunning scenery and wildlife of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The beautiful sandy beaches of Bantham, Bigbury and Thurlestone are all less than five miles’ drive away, 20 minutes brings you to Salcombe, and 30 minutes to Dartmouth or Dartmoor National Park.

The South Efford Marsh nature reserve is accessed from the bridge, complete with bird-hide for the best views of migrating swans, geese, ducks and wading birds in spring and autumn. From here you can also access the glorious 8-mile circular Avon Estuary Walk, which in turn connects with the South West Coastal Path at Bantham. The estuary is also popular amongst kayakers and paddle-boarders, who love gently drifting down to Bantham on the outgoing tide, and anyone can enjoy a peaceful stroll through this wildlife-rich landscape.

Aveton Gifford village has a pub, local shop and post office for essentials, and the shops, bars and restaurants of Kingsbridge and Modbury are both within a 10 minute drive. Seafood fans meanwhile will love The Oyster Shack – a South Hams favourite – just 1½ miles along the scenic estuary tidal road.
