More information

6 Church Park is a delightful Grade II listed former coastguard cottage enjoying elevated views over the beautiful Waterhead Creek, River Dart and Dartmouth in the distance.

This wonderful end of terrace cottage is ideally placed for exploring everything Kingswear has to offer and has been tastefully renovated and thoughtfully presented, keeping the charm and character of its former years alongside a contemporary kitchen and bathroom. Considered the quieter and sunnier side of the water to its neighbour – Dartmouth, Kingswear village boasts two pubs, cafes/coffee shops, a wine bar, two delis and a well-stocked village shop. The scenic Dart Trail walk follows the banks of the beautiful River Dart and leads to the impressive Greenway, once a home of Agatha Christie and now a National Trust treasure. For something different and if you wish to go further afield, the Dartmouth steam train departs from Kingswear itself and can take you to Totnes, Brixham, Churston, Goodrington Sands, Paignton and Torquay.

Dartmouth, on the opposite side of the River Dart, is steeped in maritime history and renowned for its lively harbour, historic Castle and imposing Royal Naval College. It can be quickly and easily accessed by foot and car on the ferries which run continually throughout the day. Once here, a picturesque network of cobbled streets and alleys are easily navigated and brimming with independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants for all ages to enjoy.

Outside

There is a paved terrace to the front of the property with bench seating and wonderful views across the creek, River Dart and onwards towards Dartmouth. To the rear, there is a paved courtyard with table and seating for 4 (can be moved to the front terrace), as well as a separate store room, for paddle boards, kayaks, bicycles etc.

The local area

The brightly coloured cottages and elegant waterside villas of Kingswear are the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of Devon. Sitting serenely at the mouth of the Dart Estuary just across the water from historic Dartmouth, Kingswear has a slower pace of life mirroring the ebb and flow of the majestic River Dart as it heads out to sea.

A holiday in Kingswear is perfect for all with lots to do, along with beautiful panoramic views and great local places to eat if you just want to relax and enjoy the stunning location.

If you’re looking to get out and about take a trip to nearby Coleton Fishacre, a fabulous National Trust art deco property with beautiful gardens to explore and an award-winning tearoom, all in a stunning coastal setting. Head up river by water taxi or on foot along the Dart Valley Trail to explore Agatha Christie’s Greenaway House at the pretty waterside village of Dittisham, or take the Dartmouth Steam Railway from Kingswear station to experience the beautiful valley in style.

A ferry from Kingswear takes you the short hop across the harbour to Dartmouth where you’ll find plenty of shops, cafes, bars and galleries lining the pretty cobbled lanes. From here you can visit Dartmouth Castle at the mouth of the harbour, hop on a river boat or water taxi or hire a kayak or paddle board to explore the river at your own pace.

Walkers will be in their element as the South West Coast Path runs through the village taking you east towards Brixham taking in Man Sands and Forward Point en route, or cross the river to Dartmouth and pick up the path running west towards the beautiful beaches at Blackpool Sands and Slapton also easily accessible by car or bus. And sailors will enjoy the chance to experience the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta in August each year when the harbour swarms with beautiful boats and marine craft competing in the various races and events.

With so much to do just moments from your cottage, a holiday in Kingswear is perfect for couples and families looking to experience everything this spectacular area has to offer.
