Glazed double doors open into the modern well equipped kitchen with a breakfast table, two tub chairs set on either side of the wood-burning stove, TV and French doors leading out to the enclosed patio perfect for alfresco dining. Kitchen appliances include dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob, washing machine and tumble dryer.

A further Gothic arch from the vestibule leads through to the dining room with a laminate floor, dining table and chairs, a guitar and digital piano for careful use and a carpeted staircase to the first floor. Cleverly tucked under the staircase is a small cloakroom with W.C. and basin.
From the dining room a carpeted staircase leads to the first floor landing with exposed beams rising to the apex of the roof.

A garden hugs three sides of the property with a double garage for storage of bikes and beach gear where you'll find a good selection of outdoor games. There is a level grassed lawn, six steps leading up to the enclosed sheltered patio and a gravelled terrace; bird and bug boxes provide a haven for the local wildlife. Garden furniture provided.
The woodland walks from the lodge take you to a resident only private beach of Duporth, so it will be relatively quiet and a perfect base for a beach day.
As part of the owner's continuous drive to make Duporth Lodge as sustainable a holiday experience as possible, we are delighted to have installed a 9 x Sunpower 415 W solar panel system. This 3.735kWp array, working alongside a GivEnergy 5.2kWh battery was installed in February 2024 and is predicted to provide over 48% of Duporth Lodge’s electricity needs. The panels have been placed discretely on the garage roof, with the battery and inverters tucked away in the corner of the garage. Guests arriving at Duporth Lodge in their electric cars could be powering their cars with Cornish sunshine!

St Austell is one of Cornwall’s biggest towns, steeped in history, and only a few miles away from the sea. For centuries, it was an important mining town. During the 18th Century, it was here that William Cookworthy discovered china clay, which really put St Austell on the map. Today, you’ll still be able to spot ‘the Cornish Alps’, towering white pits of china clay, and you can learn all about the town’s industrial past at the Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum.
The town is also famous as the home of St Austell Brewery. It’s only right that you should enjoy at least one pint of Proper Job or Tribute Cornish ale during your stay in St Austell, and you can also take an interactive tour of the brewery.

DUPORTH LODGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Environmental sustainability is central to our thinking at Duporth Lodge. We have tried to make Duporth as sustainable a holiday option as we can and we will continue to strive in that direction in the future, making the environment central to any future developments here. The electricity and gas at Duporth are supplied by Ecotricity who are the UK’s greenest energy provider. They helped us with the cost of installing the electric vehicle charging point here at the Lodge. All our lighting is provided by LEDs which use less electricity and last for up to 20 years, therefore reducing waste. When we first acquired Duporth the garden was laid mainly to gravel with very few plants. In 2019 we made extensive improvements to the outside environment. We created several new garden beds and have introduced a wide variety of shrubs and habitats to attract local wildlife. Looking around the garden you will now find nest boxes, roosting pouches and a bug box. We do not use weed killer, fungicide or pesticide in the garden.
With your help, we recycle cardboard, glass, metal, paper and plastic. We only use ecological cleaning products at Duporth. The toilet rolls and kitchen rolls we provide are made from recycled paper. The liquid hand soap, washing-up liquid and dishwasher tablets are all ecological brands. You may notice small touches at Duporth such as clothes pegs made from bamboo, a dishwasher brush with a replaceable head, a dustpan and brush made from recycled plastic or placemats made from sustainable cork. The tea, coffee and sugar we provide to welcome you are organic and Fairtrade. The jam and cream are from local producers.
We try to support local companies in a variety of ways. The blankets in the sitting room are by Atlantic Blankets from Perranporth, the glass pictures and coasters are by Jo Downs from Launceston and all the downstairs rugs and cushions are made entirely from recycled plastic bottles by Weaver Green based in Devon. Recently we have worked with Go Jute who are based in St Austell; they designed and manufactured our Duporth shopping bags made from organic & Fairtrade jute. We have installed a smart Hive heating system which both enables guests to ensure their own comfort and allows us to easily keep the heating to an absolute minimum when the property is vacant, greatly reducing carbon emissions for Duporth. Additionally, we have fitted Radflek energy-saving radiator heat reflectors to the rear of all external radiators, reducing wasted energy by 45%. We have had a water meter fitted as a first move towards making ourselves more aware of the water that is used at Duporth. As water-consuming items need replacing we will seek the most water-efficient options we can. We have already replaced the two shower heads at Duporth with new Ecocamel shower heads which use 40% less water than standard heads. Ideas for making your stay more environmentally friendly
Leave the car – Try walking or cycling around Duporth. We provide a collection of maps and books with planned walks and we have put together a selection of cycle routes in one of our folders. Leaflets for nearby Pentewan Cycle Hire can also be found at Duporth.
Switch Off Lights – Yes our light bulbs are very efficient, but you can reduce our carbon emissions still further by switching them off when you are not using them. This also extends their life and reduces waste.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – Please recycle any packaging waste by using the labelled recycling bags and boxes located in the garage. Please keep the washing-up bottle, toilet cleaner bottles and dishwasher tablet box as we refill these from bulk containers.
Be Water Wise – Please use water wisely. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth & only fill the kettle with as much as you need.
Respect Nature – Please respect the woodlands and the countryside. The beautiful woodland and coastal area around Duporth is home to many birds and animals so please try not to disturb their habitats.
