Narrow, winding, steep Devon lanes lead to this pretty thatched detached cottage alongside a bridlepath on the side of the Cottwood valley on the edge of Riddlecombe. This remote, rural cottage has lovely views of wooded hills beyond and easy access to beautiful woodland and river walks in an unspoiled corner of Devon, far away from tourist hotspots. It best suits people who would like a taste of quiet rural life, with peaceful days and dark nights. From the big hall head through to the spacious kitchen with extensive equipment, wood burning stove and a dining area. Kick back and chill out beside the wood burning stove in the huge fireplace in the country style sitting room. When the sun sinks, head upstairs to your three bedrooms, all comfortable and welcoming. From the narrow driveway (confident driving skills required!), gate to enclosed garden, cobbled terrace and steps up to well stocked, secluded garden with pond (covered), decked area, patio, Garden Retreat Room (ideal office space with WiFi, not heated) and sloping lawns. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful rolling farmland and woodland (plentiful flora/wildlife) with lots of footpaths. There is lovely walking/cycling on the Tarka Trail (most accessible section from Puffing Billy near Torrington) and decent fishing locally. RHS Garden Rosemoor, 8 miles. Torrington (hilltop market town), 11 miles. The nearest beach at Northam Burrows on the north coast is a 20 mile (45 minute) drive away. Good access to the north of Dartmoor at Belstone (16 miles) – a 30 minute drive.
