Little Hawthorn is a converted 18th Century grain loft. The owners have shown great sympathy in reflecting its history, and care has been taken not to over restore. The eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary creates a comfortable yet interesting environment.
The small, modern kitchen has an electric cooker, a beautiful retro SMEG larder fridge with icebox, microwave and toaster. A unique dining table separates the kitchen from the sitting area, which has a wall mounted, flat screen TV. There is also a small log burner, perfect for adding extra glow and warmth during the autumn and winter months.
Open tread stairs lead up to the bright, comfy double bedroom with en-suite shower, loo, wash hand basin and heated towel rail.
The flagged courtyard, shared with the vintage store, has bistro table and chairs. The yard and outbuildings below are filled with vintage collectables and memorabilia which may prove hard to resist for any visitor! You can access a (shared) large, peaceful garden to the rear of the courtyard that has a garden bench for enjoying sunny days.
There is no private parking but there is an entrance to the rear garden from the public car park. The owner provides a parking permit so there will be no charge and the permit can be used elsewhere on the Island too.
The house is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.
The apartment entrance is at the top of a flight of stone steps, close to cafes, restaurants, artisan traders as well as a Waitrose at the top of the hill. Menai Bridge town itself is steeped in history and within a short walk is the Menai Strait and Telford’s suspension bridge.
This holiday apartment is a great base for exploring Anglesey, as well as Snowdonia and the Llŷn Peninsula, accommodating the needs of both the town and country enthusiast. It is indeed a little gem, a truly bohemian experience.
