Pink footed geese by their thousands are seen and heard flying directly over Poppy Cottage morning and evening en route between their feeding and roosting sites in winter, and the keen eyed will spot them feeding on the fields around Docking, which are also abundant with hares. You are only a short drive from Snettisham RSPB reserve where the 'wader spectacular' takes place when the tides and conditions are right – a truly remarkable display of clouds of birds whirling overhead. You are equally close to the north Norfolk coast, with the well known Titchwell RSPB reserve, as well as Holme Dunes Nature Reserve, a popular spot for spring and autumn migration and sea watching. At the end of your busy outdoor day, what better than to come home to a choice of bath or shower, a hassle-free cosy fire and an oh-so-comfy king-size bed.
