The property can be used as an ideal location for exploring the whole of the Dorset area. An easy walk along to the town centre with its selection of restaurants, shops, pubs and tea rooms, means you can forget the car and completely relax.
The country town of Beaminster nestles beneath the rolling West Dorset hills, around The Square you will find lovely cafes, restaurants and independent shops, along with traditional butchers, bakery, greengrocer, country florist and a little pet shop; you will find everything for your stay. Summer hosts the popular Beaminster Festival, a packed program of music, drama and art events.
A must for walkers Beaminster is surrounded by public footpaths leading in all directions, for those with energy you can walk the many hills, you will be rewarded with stunning views to the coast and far reaching countryside.
Not far from Beaminster is the Elizabethan manor house of Mapperton, with its attractive valley garden. The house has been the home of the Earls of Sandwich since the Restoration of King Charles II. Concerts and various other events are held here. There are several other local gardens which are open to the public at certain times throughout the summer.
The former Broadwindsor Farm is now a craft and design complex of shops and workshops with its own award winning restaurant. The Llama experience offers a guided walk through the Dorset countryside with llamas and alpacas, or perhaps you would prefer a Donkey Walking Adventure – not the sort of experiences one might expect in a West Country town.

Pretty Beaminster can be found a few miles north of Bridport surrounded by some of West Dorset’s most beautiful countryside. The town is surrounded by four of Dorset’s highest peaks with fabulous panoramic views, so a holiday in Beaminster lends itself to walking and exploring, but you’d be mistaken in thinking that was all it had to offer.
This small market town is crammed full of honey coloured Dorset stone cottages with pretty gardens, along with a central town square lined with independent bakeries and delis, as well as boutique shops and a choice of quality restaurants. Walkers and cyclists will be in their element here, with no end of paths and trails to explore through the rolling hills and wooded valleys that surround the town. Many take the family friendly 6 mile cycle path from Beaminster to Bridport and West Bay for a fun day out exploring the Jurassic Coast, famous for its fossils and stunning coastal landscapes. Or hop in the car to discover the many other fabulous beaches nearby including Burton Bradstock, Charmouth and Lyme Regis.
Food and drink enthusiasts can visit nearby award winning Furleigh Estate vineyard or find out how Black Cow vodka is created from cows milk on a tour at their Beaminster distillery. And a highlight of any holiday in Beaminster would be a visit to nearby Mapperton House and Gardens, a glorious Jacobean sandstone manor house and fifteen acres of gardens, home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich.
