The traditional Devon village of Beeson nestles in beautiful countryside a half mile from popular Beesands with its beach, village green, Seafood restaurant, and The Cricket Inn, well known for its tasty food. The Millbrook Inn another popular gastropub is close by in the pretty village of South Pool, where there is also tidal estuary access. The historic town of Dartmouth is an 11 mile drive, and the bustling market town of Kingsbridge 8 miles away both with shops, restaurants, cafes and cinemas. Salcombe can be reached by the foot ferry from East Portlemouth, or by road a little further past Kingsbridge, and bohemian Totnes is a hive of independent shops, and has a popular Christmas market along with good rail links. The surrounding area is scenic for walking with the South West Coast Path in easy reach and there are popular cycling routes and plenty of options for watersports’. Local attractions and cosy village pubs are plentiful in this fabulous area.

The local area
Tucked away in beautifully scenic countryside is the tranquil hamlet of Beeson. It’s a half mile walk from this rural retreat down to the beach and village of Beesands. If you’re after good food, Beesands offers a mouth-watering dilemma between The Cricket Inn and the local seafood shack, Brittania @ The Beach. From there you can simply take a stroll along the shingle beach or follow the South West Coast Path towards neighbouring Torcross or to Start Point, passing the remains of Hallsands, a village famously claimed by the sea during a terrible storm in 1917.
From Beeson, driving the dramatic coast road towards Dartmouth is a must, as is stopping off for a coffee or a snack at the Venus Cafe at Blackpool Sands, to enjoy sparkling turquoise water contrasted against the golden beach and unspoilt pine-wooded hills. Once in Dartmouth you’ll find plenty to entertain you, with a plethora of cafes and restaurants plus plenty of independent shops and galleries all situated close to the scenic waterfront.
