There’s something magical about winter in the UK. We still remember arriving at a tiny stone cottage in the Cotswolds one December evening — the windows glowing with candlelight, the smell of pine from the Christmas tree, and the first log fire we’d lit in months.
That sense of peace — of escaping the bustle and settling into warmth and quiet — is exactly what inspired this collection of the coziest festive cottages in the UK. Whether you’re planning a romantic two-person hideaway or a big family Christmas, these stays bring that fairy-tale feeling to life.
“Think honey-stone villages, crisp country walks, and evenings curled up by a roaring fire. Our favourite Cotswolds hideaway is The Lodge, Coln St Aldwyns, in one of the most picturesque villages between Burford and Cirencester — with underfloor heating, a wood-burning stove, cozy sofas, and a garden perfect for lingering with a glass of wine.”
The Cotswolds blend storybook charm with timeless countryside beauty, where over 150 honey-stone cottages nestle among rolling hills and winding lanes.
The Lakes in December are cinematic — misty fells, frozen waterfalls, and friendly pubs glowing in every village.
